About Tumbling Pots
Hi everyone, my name is Sarineh Khachatourian, and I am the founder and creator of Tumbling Pots.
If you are new here, please welcome. I started out this blog in 2013, with two simple purpose in mind. First, that I can write about my cooking obsessions endlessly. Second, to advocate that quality food is within reach for everyone right at their fingertips and right at home.
My background and history
I am Armenian, born and raised in Tehran, Iran. That is two loving culture that has influenced me deeply and I consider myself lucky. I immigrated to United States since 2001 and have been living in my beloved hometown Los Angeles, California. I have formally studied accounting, finance and business and have earned B.S. in the Business Administration from CSUN.
Growing up, back in my home country, life was very basic but fulfilling. I am from a very large family, and blessed with a hardworking father and a very caring mother who made sure colorful spreads and sweet treats always found their way to our table. We made our food from scratch, and sometimes turning milk into yogurt by my mom was the norm in our kitchen. I absorbed so much from my parents’ food preparation at an early age and became self-sufficient in the kitchen as early as 12 years old .
Fast forward living as an Angeleno, I became familiar with so many new cultures and cuisines, which made me fall in love with international cooking and ingredients. Day after day, I found myself creating new dishes, discovering new ethnic markets and becoming an advocate for home cooking and healthy eating.
Other things I blog about in Tumbling Pots
I have devoted a lot of my valuable time to the art of painting and decorating since childhood. Museums and exhibitions are among my favorite destinations and I don't miss a good food and wine festival.
